Edible Messy Play

 

  • Cooked spaghetti
  • Cooked rice
  • Dry pasta (not really edible, but taste-safe)
  • Bread crumbs
  • Cocoa powder
  • Baby food
  • Flour
  • Ketchup/barbeque sauce
  • Cereal - whole or crunched up
  • Oats
  • Custard
  • Cooked lentils
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Mashed banana
  • Cooked porridge
  • Cornflour gloop - mix roughly 2 parts cornflour with 1 part water.  You can also colour it with food colouring
  • Jelly
  • Smoothie
  • Fruit pieces - you could try freezing the fruit for something different!
  • Baked beans
  • Spaghetti hoops
  • Frozen peas/sweetcorn, etc.
  • Ice-cream
  • Water - you could use food colouring to add colour or food flavouring to add scent/flavour
  • Ice cubes - you could freeze things like fruits or herbs in ice cubes to make them even more enticing!  You could also colour them with food colouring
  • Yoghurt - you could use flavoured yoghurt or add food colouring to colour plain yoghurt.  You could also try mark-making in a tray of yoghurt or use coloured yoghurts as edible finger paints
