Update on our plants 09.05.18
Our theme for the beginning of term 5 is minibeasts, we have been on a bug hunts. made our own minibeasts, looked at the different body parts of minibeasts and have continued to grow our plants and monitor the progress. We will also be doing pond dipping in the following week - pictures to follow.
We then moved on to kitchen chemistry, where we looked at primary and secondary colours and how different things mix together. We looked at space sand and how it stayed dry in the water, we melted crayons and watched the colours mix together and we looked at how oil floated on top of water.
Rhys has now finished his bird house and the children have planted some spinach and pea seeds and put them into the greenhouse. We will be posting progress pictures as our plant start to grow.
For our community project theme we have been looking at the outdoor areas of our school and looking at ways on how we can improve them. As part of this we made bird feeders to put out on the playground to try and attract more birds to our school.
On our way around the school the children were choosing things they would like to do to make the outdoor areas of the school better. Rhys decided he wanted to build a bird house to go with our bird feeders. Some children wanted to make decorations for the trees to make the playground more colourful.
Our current theme is time travel. We have been building our own vehicles and looking at the way transport has changed over time. We used remote control cars in IT and everyone really enjoyed using them!
Our trip to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford!
We made our own hot air balloons!
