We are into our last term of the school year. This term our themes are: 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' and 'Oh I do Love to be beside the Seaside!'. We started the term off with a wow, going to visit Woburn Safari Park, we got to see lots of animals! In the first theme we made passports and travelled on our class 'aeroplane' to different countries. We loved Russia the most it was very cold we had ice activities to do whilst we were there. In our second theme we have been very creative making our own textured rock pools we used paints, glitter, paper and rocks. We have also been enjoying visits to the sand pit, building sand castles!
We are so proud of all the Dolphins, what an amazing year we have had! We hope you've enjoyed looking at our slideshows each term, check out our final slideshow below.
We'd like to wish you all a great summer.
In term 5 our two themes have been 'Into the Jungle' and 'You've got a Friend in me'. In the first theme we looked at stories from other cultures we focused mainly on 'Handas' Surprise' - trying the different fruit from the story and ordering the story in our own individual 'Handa Surprise' book. In our second theme we've been doing lots of activities working together with our friends - using the parachute together has been our favourite! We will also be planning a party in class for the last week of term.
In numeracy we have been learning about length and height - measuring each other and creating different patterns. We have also increased our knowledge of 2D shapes and practised our counting.
We have been doing some exciting science experiments this term including making a lava lamp, travelling coloured water and the skittles experiment - which made a rainbow effect of colours!
Take a look at our Term 5 slideshow below:
It's Term 4! Our first theme this term was 'Jurassic Park'. We had great fun in this theme creating a volcano which we then made erupt. We hatched our own dinosaurs from eggs recording our predictions on what colour dinosaur we might get. We also met a real dinosaur - we were all very brave going up and touching it - you can see a picture of the dinosaur in our slideshow below.
Our next theme was 'Hatch It'. In this theme we decorated plant pots and planted different seeds watching how they grow. We also made spring tree pictures in our art session, along with some other Easter crafts. We will be having an Easter egg hunt on our last day of term.
In literacy we have been practicing writing. We each have our own diary. We have to write in the date and one thing that we have done that day.
In numeracy we have been concentrating on our adding and subtractions using objects to help us. We have also been collecting data: recording results on food preference, making predictions on our experiments and sorting children and staff into different groups.
In our ICT this term we have been using the Bee bots! We had to follow instructions to input the data into the bots controlling its movements.

We are coming to the end of Term 3 already, hasn't this term flown by?! We started this term with the theme of Shop 'Til You Drop. We looked at the different things you can get from different shops, and practiced buying things in our class shop. We also had our ice skating trip at the start of this Term, all the children did fab, all having a go on the ice! Our second theme this term was 'Telly Time'. The children have enjoyed sharing their favourite t.v shows with us on the whiteboard. We made junk model t.v's and had a great time in our music lessons doing well known songs from different programmes.
Our Year 5 children started horse riding this term! They are all doing fab and really enjoying being on the horses - showing lots of confidence.
In numeracy we have been focusing on time. We've looked at clocks and telling the time from them. We have also looked at different times in the day and what happens. Our favourite was 'bedtime' we got out mattresses, brushed our teeth, brushed our hair, put pajamas on and then turned off the lights. In literacy we have been making lists - this was very useful in our shopping theme!
Check out below what we've been getting up to. We hope you all have a lovely half term! :)
In term 2 we have covered topics of 'Hocus Pocus' which involved lots of fun, messy experiments, 'All Wrapped Up' where we looked at different weathers - experiencing them and choosing appropriate clothing, and finally we finished this term with 'Ho Ho Ho' which of course was filled with lots of christmas activities. We had a trip to the snow globe and a visit from Santa himself!
We have all worked very hard this term. In numeracy we have been practicing our counting, looking at volume and have started on our 3D shapes. In literacy we have been working on our phonics - learning the different letter sounds. We have also been making lists and looking at winter poems.
For our minibus trips this term Dolphins have enjoyed going to the park! They've explored all the equipment - climbing up the large frame, sliding down the slide and swinging together on the swings. It has
all been lots of fun.
We are having a great first term! We have been busy learning about shapes and symmetry in our numeracy lessons and looking at different traditional tales in our literacy lessons. We have also enjoyed outdoor learning this term counting different objects that we found in the playground.
Our favourite story of our 'Build it high' topic has to be 'The three little pigs'. We had lots of fun exploring the sensory story and using the fan for the 'huff and puff' of the big bad wolf! We then moved on to the 'Bugs' topic. We had grasshoppers in the class, the children had great fun watching them and telling us about them in our work. Bugtopia came to visit us too! They bought with them many different insects - even a bearded dragon!
Here's a slideshow showing what we've been busy with in term 1:
